In 2025, new summering sites and confirmed nesting sites for Japanese Waxwing were discovered in the Nogliki District of Sakhalin Oblast. For the first time on Sakhalin Island, nests were found and described, providing specific data on the nesting biology and habitat preferences of one of the least studied birds in the Russian Federation.
