DIEIDA STRAND, 1911 – A NEW GENUS OF COSSID MILLERS (LEPIDOPTERA: COSSIDAE) FOR THE FAUNA OF AFGHANISTAN

Abstract

Dieida Strand, 1911 is reported from Afghanistan for the first time. The description of Dieida afghana Yakovlev et Pljustch, sp. nov. is presented. The new species differs from other species of the genus by dark coloring and total absence of orange elements in wing pattern. Orange color is more or less expressed on wings, thorax and abdomen in all previously known species of the genus Dieida.
