WATER MITES OF THE GENUS HYDROCHOREUTES KOCH, 1835 (ACARI: HYDRACHNIDIA, PIONIDAE) IN RUSSIA

Abstract

The study presents a detailed taxonomic review of water mites of the genus Hydrochoreutes Koch, 1837 (Pionidae) found in the fauna of Russia during the long-term survey period of 1970-2008. The review includes illustrations and (re)descriptions of males and females of 8 species: Hydrochoreutes krameri Piersig, 1895, H. ungulatus (Koch, 1836), H. virens Tuzovskij, 1977, H. magadanicus Tuzovskij, 1990, H. wolgaensis Tuzovskij, 2001, H. cooki Tuzovskij, 2003, H. orientalis Tuzovskij, 2003, and H. similis Tuzovskij, 2003. Diagnostic keys to the adult males and females of all species are supplied.
