This study presents the first evidence that the West Siberian form of jaxarticus belongs to one of the species within the complex polytypic assemblage of Palearctic penduline tits, Remiz pendulinus sensu lato. Previously, the position of this form based on mitochondrial markers had not been studied, while its morphological features and distribution patterns did not allow for a clear determination of its affiliation with one of the two polytypic species identified within this complex. We have definitively established that the West Siberian penduline tit belongs to Remiz pendulinus as a subspecies.
