On the 160th anniversary of the beginning of the work of Emmanuel D. Peltsam: Collector for Kazan University

The Zoological Museum and Herbarium named after E.A. Eversman is one of the main structures of the museum complex of Kazan Federal University. The history of its formation dates back to the beginning of the 19th century and is associated with many names of collectors, donors and patrons. Among them, E.D. Peltsam made a significant contribution to the formation of zoological collections. This article is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the beginning of his service at Kazan University: based on an analysis of unpublished sources, it was concluded that it was in 1865 that E.D. Peltsam began his duties as curator of the museum. The article traces his professional career and highlights his contribution to the replenishment of the zoological collections of the university, as well as the collections of other museums and institutions.
