Aims & Scope

The Amurian Zoological Journal (alternative titles AZJ, Amurskii Zoologicheskii Zhurnal) publishes papers on various aspects of zoology, with a special focus on contributions in systematics, taxonomy, and faunistics.

The Journal emerged to meet the demand of zoologists for a new periodical that would be committed to high standards in both the quality of research and printing. The Amurian Zoological Journal has come to enjoy a distinguished reputation among other similar publications; it is indeed one of the specialized journals in zoology.

Since its inception, the Journal has published four issues each year, with 12 volumes and over 500 papers in total. The contributors include many leading researchers from Russia and overseas—namely, the USA, China, Japan, Iran, Germany, etc.

The Journal is wide in scope and welcomes contributions in a range of current topics in zoological research. Along with that, it features dozens of papers in systematics and taxonomy. So far, it has published over 300 nomenclatural acts as well as numerous descriptions of new taxa and ichnotaxa. It also features large taxonomic works including those with the focus on the world fauna.

The contributions are submitted in either Russian or English. The titles of papers, abstracts, names and affiliation of contributors as well as captions to tables and figures are given in both languages, which makes the journal accessible to researchers from all over the globe.

The Amurian Zoological Journal is listed in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) and has a stable and high impact factor. In 2018, it was included in the RSCI core collection. The Journal is circulated to major libraries and research institutions specialising in zoology from across the world. The descriptions of new taxa are indexed in Zoological Record, an international database of zoological and animal science literature, as well as on Zoobank. Web of Science Master Journal List features the Journal under the title Amurskii Zoologicheskii Zhurnal.
